How to Book a Private Airport Transfer in Bangkok
3 min read· 5 Oct 2026

Booking an airport car in Bangkok takes only a few minutes — as long as you have the right details ready. Most problems come from small mix-ups: the wrong airport, a pickup time set to the landing time, or one more suitcase than expected. This checklist helps you get it right the first time.
The 6-point checklist
Before you open any booking form, have these ready:
- Airport — Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK)
- Flight number
- Arrival time and pickup time
- Destination — full address or the exact hotel name
- Passenger count — including children
- Luggage — large suitcases and cabin bags
Let's go through each one.
1. Airport: BKK or DMK
Bangkok has two airports, and they are far apart. Your ticket or boarding pass shows a three-letter code:
- BKK — Suvarnabhumi Airport
- DMK — Don Mueang Airport
If you are not sure, look at your airline confirmation email — the code on your ticket is the most reliable source.
2. Flight number
Your flight number is the airline code plus digits printed on your ticket, for example "XX123". Including it helps confirm which airport and terminal you arrive at and the scheduled time. Copy it exactly from your ticket.
3. Arrival time vs pickup time
This is the detail most often misunderstood.
| What it means | Example | |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival time | When the plane is scheduled to land | 21:40 |
| Pickup time | When you want the car to meet you | 22:40 |
After landing you still need to walk to immigration, queue, collect your bags and pass customs. For international arrivals this commonly takes a while, and longer on busy evenings. So the pickup time should usually be later than the landing time.
A practical approach:
- Domestic flight, carry-on only: pickup a little after landing.
- International flight with checked bags: allow more time after landing.
- Travelling with children or older relatives: add a bit more.
There is no single correct number — it depends on your flight and the airport on the day. If you are unsure, choose a slightly later time; it is easier than rushing through the terminal.
4. Destination
Give the most precise destination you can:
- Hotel name and street address.
- For condos or offices, the building name and entrance.
- For hospitals and clinics, the exact facility name — many have similar names or several buildings.
On our booking page you choose the place on a map search, which helps avoid confusion between similarly named locations.
5. Passenger count
Count everyone, including babies and children. Vehicles have legal and practical seat limits. Our DENZA D9 takes up to 4 passengers. If you are five or more, book a second vehicle rather than hoping to fit.
6. Luggage
Count large suitcases and cabin bags separately, and mention bulky items like strollers or golf bags. Our car carries up to 4 bags. Overloading leads to uncomfortable rides and, sometimes, items that simply will not fit.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Booking from BKK when you land at DMK (or the reverse).
- Setting the pickup time to the landing time.
- Forgetting a child in the passenger count.
- Under-counting bags on the way home after shopping.
- Giving a hotel name without the branch or street when the chain has several locations.
Before you fly
- Screenshot your booking confirmation.
- Make sure your phone can receive messages after landing.
- Keep your destination address in Thai and English.
If you are still choosing how to travel from the airport, our Suvarnabhumi transfer guide and Don Mueang guide compare all the options fairly.
